Mink

Mink is a wide board engineered oak in a soft, muted neutral tone that sits alongside our grey shades. Like the fur it is named after, it falls somewhere between grey and brown, so check it against your joinery and benchtops before you choose.

The board is 2200 × 220 × 15 mm, with a 4 mm European oak wear layer, micro-bevelled edges and tongue and groove joints. The brushed, matte surface gives a slight texture that helps hide fine marks. Packs contain six boards and cover 2.904 m².

Why an in-between colour helps

Pure grey can feel cold in a house with warm timber doors or brick, and brown can feel heavy in a modern one. Mink sits between the two. That makes it useful in renovations where old and new meet, such as a 1950s brick home in Kew with a new rear extension, where one floor has to run from the original rooms into the new living area.

Rooms and light

As a wide board it suits bigger rooms: open-plan kitchen and living, a long hallway, a main bedroom with space around the bed. Neutral tones like this change with the light. In a north-facing room it can lean warm, and in a shaded south room it reads greyer. A free sample viewed at home will tell you more than a photo.

Installing a wide board

Wide, long boards need a flat subfloor, since they bridge dips less easily than short ones. We check and level before gluing to a slab or fixing over timber, and moisture test concrete first. Care is simple: vacuum regularly to remove grit, use felt pads under furniture and clean with a damp mop.
