Australian timbers are valued for their grain, their natural colour variation and the way they age. Each species has its own colour and texture, and they are used in homes as well as in architectural and commercial projects.
We work with homeowners, builders, architects and interior designers to choose a species, grade and finish that suits the overall design of the project.
Blackbutt is one of Australia's best-known flooring timbers, with a warm and versatile look. Its colour ranges from pale cream and golden tones through to soft honey and light brown, and the natural variation gives each floor its own character.
Its understated grain and adaptable colouring suit contemporary Australian interiors well.
Ideal for: contemporary homes, coastal-inspired interiors, light neutral palettes and architectural projects.
In our range: engineered Blackbutt in smooth and matte brushed finishes, and Blackbutt Solid 18 mm.
Spotted Gum is known for its strong natural variation and distinctive grain. Colours range from soft browns through to rich chocolate and deeper reddish brown, which gives the floor depth and movement.
It is a good choice when you would like the floor to be a feature of the design.
Ideal for: luxury residences, contemporary architecture, feature flooring and interiors with warm or earthy palettes.
In our range: engineered Spotted Gum in smooth and matte brushed finishes, Spotted Gum Herringbone and Spotted Gum Solid 18 mm.
Known for its lighter look and subtle warmth, Tasmanian Oak can show tones from straw and pale cream through to soft pink and reddish brown.
Because it is fairly understated, it sits well with neutral finishes, natural stone, soft furnishings and contemporary cabinetry.
Ideal for: Scandinavian-inspired interiors, lighter colour schemes, modern renovations and homes with a classic style.
Tasmanian Oak is not yet listed in our online range, but please ask us about current options and samples.
Blue Gum has plenty of natural character, with warm pinkish and reddish-brown tones that can deepen across individual boards. Its colouring gives a floor warmth while keeping the natural look of Australian hardwood.
Ideal for: character homes, warm contemporary interiors, renovations and projects looking for a richer natural timber look.
Blue Gum is not yet listed in our online range, but please ask us about current options and samples.
We also supply 18 mm solid Grey Ironbark, Red Ironbark and Tallowwood, and engineered Victorian Ash, a pale Australian hardwood with a straight, even grain.
Australian timber is a natural material, so some variation is to be expected.
Colour, grain, knots, gum veins and other natural features can vary from board to board and from batch to batch. These are not faults; they are part of the character of a genuine timber floor.
Samples are an important guide when you choose a floor, but a sample cannot show every variation that will appear across a finished installation. That is why we recommend looking at larger displays in the showroom before you decide.
Selected Australian species are available as engineered timber flooring: a genuine timber surface on a multi-layer construction designed for stability in modern homes. Depending on the collection, options can include different board sizes, grades, surface textures and finishes. Some species also come as 18 mm solid tongue and groove boards. See our Australian hardwood range for the difference between the two.
Our team can advise on the right product and installation method for your project. For underfloor heating, our approved floor is engineered European oak, so please speak with us before planning Australian hardwood over heating.

Rather than working from a standard price list, we quote each project on its own. That lets us allow for the timber you choose, the quantity, the installation and anything specific to your site. Builders and designers can see our builders and trade page.

Questions
Our online range has Blackbutt and Spotted Gum as engineered boards and 18 mm solid boards, Spotted Gum herringbone, 18 mm solid Grey Ironbark, Red Ironbark and Tallowwood, and engineered Victorian Ash. Ask us about Tasmanian Oak and Blue Gum, which are not listed online yet.
Yes. On our 18 mm solid boards, Spotted Gum rates 11 kN on the Janka hardness scale and Blackbutt 9.1 kN, so Spotted Gum copes a little better with dropped objects and chair legs. Both are hard enough for a busy family home.
Australian timber varies in colour, grain, knots and gum veins from board to board and between batches. A small sample can't show all of that, so we recommend looking at larger displays in the showroom and expecting more variation across the finished floor.
Our approved floor for underfloor heating is engineered European oak. Please speak with us before planning an Australian hardwood floor over heating.
Engineered boards have a real hardwood top layer on a stable core, so they move less with humidity and suit slabs and apartments well. 18 mm solid boards are hardwood all the way through and can be sanded more times over their life. We help you choose at the measure.
Rather than using a standard price list, we quote every project individually, based on the species, quantity, installation and site conditions, after a free measure.
