Address and opening hours
Primecon Flooring, 2/1386 Toorak Road, Camberwell VIC 3124
Open Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm and Saturday 10am to 2pm. Hours can change around public holidays, so please call to confirm before you make a special trip: 1300 690 160 or 0498 869 988.
What you will see
Rather than hundreds of boards on racks, we keep a smaller, curated range on large-format wall displays, so each board is shown as a floor-sized panel instead of one plank in a stack. You can see how the grain and colour vary from board to board, which matters more than most people expect once the floor is down.
On the walls you will find:
- Engineered European oak in standard 190 mm planks, 220 mm wide boards and herringbone, with colours running from White Smoke through Natural Oak to Nero Brown
- the reactive-finish oak series, such as Westminster, for a more rustic look
- Australian hardwood in Blackbutt, Spotted Gum and Victorian Ash
- Laminate and hybrid boards for rooms where water resistance or budget comes first
If you are drawn to a colour family, the light oak, grey, warm brown and dark pages online are a good way to narrow it down before you come in. If you would like something that isn't on the wall, such as a particular species, extra-wide boards or a smoked tone, please ask about made-to-order boards.
Questions we will ask you
To help you find the right boards, we will ask about the house as much as about colour. Is the floor going over a slab or a timber subfloor? Upstairs or down? Do you have a dog, young kids, underfloor heating, or a room that gets strong afternoon sun? Is it an apartment with building rules? The answers narrow the choice quickly, and they often rule out a board before you become attached to it.
What to bring
A few things make a showroom visit much more useful:
- a floor plan, or rough room measurements, so we can talk about quantities and an estimate
- photos of the rooms, especially the light, the kitchen joinery and any stairs
- samples of things the floor has to sit next to: a cabinet door, a benchtop offcut, a paint chip or a tile
- anything you know about the subfloor, and apartment building rules if they apply
You don't need to bring all of these. Even a few phone photos and a hand-drawn sketch with rough sizes let us give you an early idea of cost, and then book a free measure & quote to firm it up.
Free samples
We encourage you to take samples home. Place them on the floor where the boards will go, next to the kitchen and the sofa, and look at them in the morning and again at night. Colour shifts a lot between showroom lights, daylight and warm lamps, and it is easier to rule a board out at home than in store. We suggest taking two or three that you like rather than one, so you have something to compare against.
Booking a visit
You are welcome to visit at any time during opening hours. If you want time with someone from the team to talk through a whole project, book a time by phone or through the contact form. We can then set aside time for you and have the boards you asked about ready to look at.
Getting here
We are on Toorak Road in Camberwell, which is easy to reach from Balwyn, Kew, Hawthorn, Surrey Hills and the rest of the eastern suburbs. Convenient parking is available in the car park next to Primecon Flooring, with easy access to the showroom. Call us if you need directions.
Before you come in
If you have time, look through the product range online and note two or three boards you like. Measure the rooms roughly, or find the floor plan from when you bought the house. Take a few photos in daylight. It also helps to think about how long you plan to stay in the house, since that often decides between engineered oak, hardwood and laminate more than colour does. None of this is required, but it helps you make the most of your first visit.
What happens after your visit
Once you have a board or two in mind, the next step is a measure at your home. We check the rooms and the subfloor, work out what needs to come up first, and then send a quote. When you are happy with it, we arrange a date and handle delivery and installation, including removal and subfloor preparation where it's needed. The installers clean up and take the rubbish before they leave.
One customer found us because the showroom is next door to his gym. However you find us, the showroom is a good place to start.
