Mellow Beige Herringbone is engineered European oak laid in a herringbone pattern. Mellow Beige is a soft, pale honey oak. The blocks carry plenty of natural grain and the odd small knot, and the colour shifts a little from block to block, so the pattern shows without being overpowering.
Specifications
Prime grade oak blocks, 600 × 120 × 15 mm, with a 3 mm oak top layer on an engineered core. Brushed surface with a UV lacquer, micro bevel on all four sides and tongue and groove joins. The blocks are glued directly to the subfloor. Slip rating P3. Each pack holds 16 blocks and covers 1.152 m².
Where it suits
It suits bright living rooms, Scandinavian and coastal interiors, and period homes that have been painted out in white. It is forgiving with dust and paw prints, more so than a very white floor.
The 600 × 120 mm block is smaller than our 900 × 150 mm oak herringbone, so the zigzag is tighter and more traditional. It suits hallways and period rooms well; in a very large open room it reads as a fine texture.
Installation
Pattern floors take longer to set out and lay than plank, and every edge block is cut, so allow more waste and more labour in the quote. The subfloor has to be flat and dry, because short blocks show every dip. We check moisture and flatness at the measure and include any levelling in the quote. Engineered European oak is the floor we approve over underfloor heating, installed to the product instructions. It is not suited to bathrooms or laundries.

How many packs of Mellow Beige Herringbone do I need for a 10 m² hallway?
Each pack covers 1.152 m². Pattern floors need more allowance for cuts than plank; at about 12% extra you need roughly 11.2 m², which is 10 packs. We confirm the allowance from your actual room shapes at the measure.
Is Mellow Beige more yellow or more neutral?
It is a light natural oak with a gentle honey warmth, not a strong yellow. Check a sample next to your benchtop and paint colour, because morning and afternoon light change it.
Is Mellow Beige Herringbone solid oak?
No, it is engineered. The top 3 mm is real European oak and the layers underneath keep the block stable. The surface you see and walk on is genuine oak.
