Hidalgo herringbone puts one of our deeper, warm brown oaks into a herringbone pattern. It gives a traditional, rich look that suits formal dining rooms, entrance halls and older homes with original joinery.
The pieces are 900 × 150 × 15 mm, with a 4 mm European oak wear layer over an engineered core, micro bevel, tongue and groove, and a matte brushed surface. Twelve pieces per pack, 1.62 m².
A darker herringbone shows the pattern strongly, so it looks best where there is enough floor to show it. A long hallway in a Victorian or Edwardian house in Hawthorn is a classic example: light from the front door and the fanlight, dark painted skirtings, and a pattern that leads you down the hall. In a small or dim space, consider a lighter tone such as Light Tan herringbone.
You can run Hidalgo plank through the connecting rooms to keep the colour consistent. At the join we either use a threshold in the doorway or finish the herringbone with a border so the change reads as a frame.
We cover all of this in a free measure and quote.
Herringbone is normally glued down. On a slab, that means a moisture test and levelling first; on an old timber floor it may mean sheeting over the boards to get a flat, stable base. Once down, it is cared for like any engineered oak: vacuum, damp mop, felt pads.

Questions
Each pack holds 12 pieces and covers 1.62 m². Herringbone needs more allowance for cuts than plank; at about 12% extra you need roughly 11.2 m², which is 7 packs.
It depends on the light. With a glazed front door or skylight it usually looks rich. In a hallway with no natural light, a lighter herringbone may suit better.
Yes. Both are the same colour, so we can run plank through the connecting rooms and finish the join with a threshold or border.
