Light Tan herringbone brings a light, warm oak tone to a herringbone pattern. It is a good choice if you want a pattern that feels relaxed rather than formal. Being a mid-light tone, it is also forgiving with dust and daily wear.
Each piece is 900 × 150 × 15 mm engineered oak with a 4 mm European oak wear layer, micro-bevelled edges and tongue and groove joints, with a matte brushed finish. A pack contains 12 pieces and covers 1.62 m².
A dark herringbone is a strong feature in a room. A lighter one like this gives you the texture of the pattern without making the room feel heavy. That suits smaller spaces: a townhouse entry, a compact dining nook, or a study in a Surrey Hills cottage. It also works in modern homes, where a darker traditional parquet can look out of place.
Use it on its own, or in one part of the house with Light Tan plank elsewhere, so the colour carries through. For a large open-plan area next to it, the Light Tan wide board is another option. For an even lighter pattern, compare it with White Smoke herringbone.
Herringbone costs more to lay than plank because of the extra cutting and fitting. Each piece is placed by hand, and the pattern is set out from a centre line so it looks balanced at both walls. There are also more offcuts. We allow for both in your quote.
Herringbone is usually glued down, which means the subfloor must be flat and dry. We test moisture on slabs and may sheet over an uneven timber floor first. Our floor removal and subfloor page explains what that involves. Day to day, vacuum and damp mop, and put felt pads under dining chairs, which get dragged more than anything else in the house. They are the same named colour, so they can run in adjoining rooms. As with any timber, compare samples of both formats side by side before ordering.
Yes. A lighter herringbone gives the pattern without making a small room feel heavy, which is why it suits entries, studies and dining nooks.
