A Natural Oak herringbone floor is a traditional choice. The natural oak tone suits period homes, where herringbone sits naturally in halls and front rooms, and it works equally well in a new build.
Specifications: 900 × 150 × 15 mm pieces, 4 mm European oak wear layer, micro bevel, tongue and groove, matte brushed surface. 12 pieces per pack, 1.62 m² per pack.
Long, narrow spaces show herringbone off best. The central hallway of an Edwardian or Victorian house in Kew or Hawthorn is a typical example, with the zigzag running the length of the hall and leading the eye through the house. It also works in a formal lounge or dining room where you want the floor to be a feature. In a small study or bedroom the pattern can feel busy, and a plank is often the calmer choice.
Herringbone needs careful setting out, so the pattern runs straight down a hallway and finishes neatly at the doorways. We plan this before we quote. Each piece is laid by hand and fixed down, usually glued to a flat slab or a sound timber or ply subfloor. Because every small hump or dip shows in a pattern floor, subfloor levelling matters more here than with plank. It also produces more offcuts, so labour and waste are higher than a straight floor of the same area.
Many customers pair it with the Natural Oak plank or wide board in the living areas. If you want a slightly warmer pattern floor, compare Light Tan herringbone. The full pattern range is on our herringbone and parquetry page, and similar tones are under warm browns.
Treat it like any matte oak floor: regular vacuuming, felt pads under furniture and a damp mop. The 4 mm wear layer allows for sanding and recoating later on.

Questions
Each pack covers 1.62 m². Herringbone needs a bigger offcut allowance than plank, so as a rough guide a 12 m² hall ordered at about 13.2 m² comes to 9 packs. We confirm the allowance when we measure.
We lay herringbone fixed down, usually glued to a flat slab or sound subfloor. A pattern floor moves and shows unevenness more than plank, so fixing it down gives a better result.
Yes, it is the same Natural Oak colour and matte brushed surface, so a herringbone entry can run into plank or wide board in the living areas.
