NSW Spotted Gum 9 mm is a mid brown spotted gum look on our 9 mm board. The boards run from straw and honey through to a deeper tan brown, with rippled grain, the odd knot and thin dark gum veins. There is plenty of movement from board to board.
9 mm or 7 mm
The same colour name comes in two builds. This board is 9 mm thick with a 7 mm SPC core, 1545 × 228 mm, five per pack. NSW Spotted Gum 7 mm is 7 mm with a 5 mm core, 1524 × 228 mm, six per pack. Both have a 0.5 mm wear layer, the 2 mm attached underlay and the same EN 685 and P3 ratings, so the choice comes down to board size and thickness. The photos look close, but compare the actual samples in the showroom before deciding.
Living with it
The colour variation hides crumbs, dust and dog hair well, so it suits family kitchens and living areas. In a small room with patterned tiles or busy rugs it can feel crowded. When we lay it we draw from several packs at once so the darker boards spread out rather than clumping in one corner.
Specifications and care
Embossed surface, micro bevel, Unilin click, floating installation. Five boards per pack cover 1.761 m², 23 kg a pack. The board is highly water resistant and suits bathrooms and laundries, but not a shower recess or anywhere with regular running water. Hybrid is not approved for underfloor heating; if you have it or plan to put it in, our engineered European oak is the floor approved for it. Should I choose NSW Spotted Gum 9 mm or 7 mm?
The 9 mm board has a 7 mm core, 1545 × 228 mm, five per pack. The 7 mm board has a 5 mm core, 1524 × 228 mm, six per pack. Wear layer, underlay and ratings are the same, so compare the samples and the quote.
Why do some boards look much darker than others?
Real spotted gum varies a lot, and the print copies that. We mix boards from several packs as we lay them so the darker ones spread out.
How many packs for a 35 m² kitchen and family room?
35 m² plus 10% is 38.5 m². At 1.761 m² per pack, 38.5 ÷ 1.761 = 21.9, so order 22 packs.
What warranty comes with NSW Spotted Gum 9 mm Hybrid?
25 years limited for homes and 10 years limited for light commercial use, from the manufacturer. It covers manufacturing defects and the finish wearing through under normal use, as long as the floor is installed and cared for to the instructions. The exact term is confirmed on your quote. Our installation work and your Australian Consumer Law rights are separate from it.
