Tanned Oak is a laminate with a warm, tan-toned oak look. Warmer mid tones are forgiving with dust and daily wear, and they sit well with most furniture.

The boards are 12 mm thick and 2260 × 236 mm, with a 4D embossed-in-register surface. The Välinge 5G click joint connects the boards, and the floor is laid floating over underlay. Each carton covers 2.13 m² with four boards.

Who it suits

Laminate is a sensible choice where budget, speed of installation or wear matter more than having real timber. Tanned Oak in particular suits families: the mid tone does not show crumbs and footprints the way very pale or very dark floors do. We see it chosen for rumpus rooms, a teenager's upstairs retreat, and whole-floor updates in 1980s homes around Rowville and Glen Waverley where the carpet is due for replacement.

Working with existing timber furniture

A warm floor goes with timber furniture most people already own, like a Tasmanian oak table, jarrah sideboard or pine bookshelves, without the clash a grey floor can cause. If you are keeping existing warm-toned joinery or doors, bring a photo or a drawer front to the showroom and hold it against the sample.

Installation

As a floating floor it needs a flat, dry base and underlay. We leave expansion gaps at walls and doorways and finish with skirting or trims. It is not suitable for wet areas. Carpet needs to be removed first, and we can take care of that along with any subfloor prep.

For a similar warm tone in real engineered oak, compare Light Tan. Other warm laminates include Bellagio Oak and Australian Blackbutt. See the warm browns page and our laminate range.

Care

Vacuum regularly, then clean with a well-wrung mop. You are welcome to ask for a free sample to see it in your own light.
