Despite the web address, Brown Oak is a straight plank, not a pattern board. It is a brown oak tone that sits with the richer, darker colours in our range, and suits rooms where you want a floor with some depth, paired with lighter walls and joinery.
Specs: 1900 × 190 × 15 mm engineered European oak, 4 mm oak wear layer, micro bevel, tongue and groove, matte brushed surface. Each pack has six boards and covers 2.166 m².
A mid-to-dark brown looks settled in formal living and dining rooms, and it pairs well with the leadlight, dark architraves and fireplaces you find in older houses in Kew and Hawthorn. In a newer home it works against white walls and black window frames. The main thing to consider is light. In a dim room with small windows, please check the sample at around 4pm in winter before you decide.
Darker floors show pale dust, pet hair and dry footprints more than mid tones. The brushed, matte surface helps with fine scratches, but a doormat at each entry does more than any finish. Felt pads under chairs, and a rug where kids play, will keep it looking good.
If you are after a warm brown, compare it with Hidalgo. For a darker, more characterful board, look at Edgey. Both are the same plank size. The full group is on our dark and rich tones page.
Because it is a standard plank, Brown Oak is laid the same way as the rest of our engineered range, and your quote will be based on the plank format. We moisture-test and level the subfloor, then glue down to concrete or fix or float over timber. If you want a pattern floor, see our herringbone and parquetry range. Otherwise, ask for a free sample or compare colours across the engineered oak range.
