Blank is an engineered European oak plank from our standard range, and it sits with our light oak and blonde tones. The name does not describe the colour, and photos vary with screens, so please look at it in person. It is on the wall displays at our showroom at 2/1386 Toorak Road, and free samples are available.
The construction is the same as our other standard planks. A 4 mm oak wear layer sits over a layered core, giving 15 mm overall. Boards are 1900 mm long and 190 mm wide, with a micro bevel on the edges and tongue and groove joints. The surface is brushed and matte, which helps disguise light scratches. Six boards come in each 2.166 m² pack.
It is a size that works in almost any room. In a bedroom or study it doesn't look oversized, and in a living area it still gives long runs of grain. That makes the standard plank the easy choice when one floor has to run through a whole house.
Light oak floors make smaller rooms feel bigger and bounce light into hallways. They are a good fit for the narrow Edwardian and Victorian homes around Camberwell and Deepdene, where the entry hall can be dark. Light tones also hide pale dust well, though they show dark grit more.
It is also available as a 2200 mm wide board if you have a large open-plan area. If you are weighing up light oaks, put Blank next to Valis and White Smoke. See the whole light oak and blonde tones group too.
On a slab we usually direct-stick; on a timber subfloor the boards can be fixed or floated on underlay. Either way the subfloor gets checked for moisture and level first. Keep it clean with a vacuum and damp mop. The 4 mm wear layer allows a sand and recoat later if needed. Compare colours in our engineered oak range.
