Dim Grey Hybrid

Dim Grey is the darkest grey in our 7 mm hybrid range, a cool charcoal with soft oak grain and small dark knots. Some boards are a shade lighter than others, which stops it looking like a solid painted surface.

Specifications

1524 × 228 mm planks, 7 mm thick: 5 mm SPC core, 0.5 mm wear layer and 2 mm attached acoustic underlay. Embossed surface, micro bevel, Unilin click, floating installation. EN 685 domestic heavy and commercial light, slip rating P3 (AS 4586). Six boards per pack (2.085 m², 19.5 kg).

Where it works

A charcoal floor needs good light. It looks smart in an open-plan room with big windows, white walls and pale or timber cabinetry, and in modern builds with concrete, black steel and white benchtops. In a small, south-facing bedroom or a dim hallway it can make the space feel closed in. There, a lighter grey like Arctic Grey is usually the better choice.

What to expect with a dark grey

It is worth thinking about cleaning before you choose. Dark floors show dust, light pet hair, dried water drops and pale grit more than mid tones do. Fine scratches can show as lighter lines on dark colours. The embossed surface helps a little, and a good mat at each outside door makes a much bigger difference. The board cannot be sanded, so a badly marked board is replaced. Keep a few spare boards for that.

Installation

It floats on its attached 2 mm underlay. In an apartment, check the building's acoustic rules for hard floors before ordering, as the attached underlay may or may not meet them on its own.
