Northern Blackbutt is a golden tan hybrid plank from our 9 mm plank range. The grain runs long and straight with only the odd small knot, and the colour stays fairly even from board to board. It is a warm floor without being orange, and it has none of the dark gum veins you see in some blackbutt looks.
A narrower board
Most of the 9 mm boards are 228 mm wide. Northern Blackbutt is 182 mm wide and 1545 mm long, so you get more boards across a room and more lines in the floor. That is closer to a traditional hardwood strip floor, and it tends to suit smaller rooms, hallways and older houses better than a wide board. In a big open-plan space the narrower board still works; the floor simply looks slightly busier.
Specifications
Total thickness is 9 mm: a 7 mm SPC core, a 0.5 mm wear layer and a 2 mm acoustic underlay attached underneath. Unilin click joint, floating installation, embossed surface and micro bevel edges. Rated EN 685 domestic heavy and commercial light, with a P3 slip rating. Five boards per pack cover 1.761 m², at 23 kg a pack.
Before you order
The board is highly water resistant and can go in bathrooms and laundries, but not a shower recess or anywhere with regular running water. Hybrid cannot be sanded, so we recommend keeping a few spare boards. If you live in an apartment, please check the building's acoustic rules. How many packs of Northern Blackbutt will I need?
Each pack of five 1545 × 182 mm boards is listed at 1.761 m². We confirm the pack count at the measure from your actual room sizes, with a waste allowance included.
Why is Northern Blackbutt narrower than the other 9 mm boards?
It is 182 mm wide instead of 228 mm. The narrower board gives more joins across the room, which looks closer to a traditional hardwood strip floor.
Does Northern Blackbutt have dark gum veins?
Very few. The sample shows an even golden tan with straight grain and the occasional small knot. See it in the showroom if you want to check the board-to-board variation.
What warranty comes with Northern Blackbutt Hybrid?
25 years limited for homes and 10 years limited for light commercial use, from the manufacturer. It covers manufacturing defects and the finish wearing through under normal use, as long as the floor is installed and cared for to the instructions. The exact term is confirmed on your quote. Our installation work and your Australian Consumer Law rights are separate from it.
