Classic Blackbutt is a golden honey Blackbutt-look plank in our 7 mm hybrid range. The print has long, fairly straight grain with the odd cathedral pattern and only light variation between boards, so it looks calm across a big room.
Specifications
1524 × 228 mm planks, 7 mm thick: 5 mm SPC core, 0.5 mm wear layer and 2 mm attached acoustic underlay. Embossed surface, micro bevel, Unilin click, floating installation. EN 685 domestic heavy and commercial light, slip rating P3 (AS 4586). Six boards per pack (2.085 m², 19.5 kg).
Hybrid or real Blackbutt?
Our engineered Blackbutt is real timber you can sand and recoat later. This hybrid cannot be sanded, but it handles kitchens, busy hallways and pets without the worry of water marks on a timber finish, and it goes down faster. We also sell a 12 mm Blackbutt-look laminate, which is a different product with longer boards; this page is the 7 mm hybrid.
Where it suits
The warm yellow-brown tone suits weatherboard homes and renovated period houses where you want an Australian feel. It sits well with white walls, black window frames and brass or matt black tapware. In a room that already has a lot of warm timber joinery it can start to feel busy, so bring a sample home and lay it against your cabinets.
Installation
Classic Blackbutt floats over a flat, dry subfloor on its attached 2 mm underlay. Hybrid is not approved for underfloor heating; if you have it or plan to put it in, our engineered European oak is the floor approved for it. Frequently asked questions
Can Classic Blackbutt hybrid be sanded like real Blackbutt?
No. Hybrid flooring cannot be sanded or recoated. A damaged board is replaced, which is why we suggest keeping a few spares.
How many packs for a 45 m² open-plan area?
45 m² plus 10% is 49.5 m². At 2.085 m² per pack, 49.5 ÷ 2.085 = 23.7, so order 24 packs.
Is this the same as your Blackbutt laminate?
No. This is a 7 mm SPC hybrid with attached underlay. The laminate is a separate 12 mm product with a different board size and different water limits.
What warranty comes with Classic Blackbutt Hybrid?
25 years limited for homes and 10 years limited for light commercial use, from the manufacturer. It covers manufacturing defects and the finish wearing through under normal use, as long as the floor is installed and cared for to the instructions. The exact term is confirmed on your quote. Our installation work and your Australian Consumer Law rights are separate from it.
