Driftwood

Driftwood is a laminate with a weathered, rustic timber look, as the name suggests. It sits with our grey shades. A textured, varied look like this hides everyday marks well, which is one reason it suits busy family rooms and rentals.

It comes in 12 mm boards, 2260 mm long and 236 mm wide. The surface is 4D embossed in register (EIR), with texture that follows the printed grain, so it doesn't look flat. The Välinge 5G click joint lets boards lock together, and the floor is laid floating on underlay. Each carton has four boards covering 2.13 m².

A grey, weathered floor looks cool in a south-facing room, so if your living area gets little sun, check the sample there before deciding.

Alternatives to look at

What installation involves

Old carpet, tiles or vinyl come up first. We check the subfloor for flatness, since floating floors flex over hollows and the joins can creak or open. A moisture barrier goes over concrete, then underlay, then the boards, with an expansion gap at each wall. Door jambs are undercut so the boards slide beneath rather than being scribed around.

Cleaning

The textured surface can hold fine dust in the grain, so a vacuum with a soft floor head works better than a broom. Follow up with a damp mop, not a wet one. More in our laminate range. Ask for a free sample.
