NSW Spotted Gum Herringbone is a bold, high-contrast floor from our 9 mm hybrid herringbone range. The blocks range from pale straw to a reddish mid brown, with swirling figure, the odd knot and thin dark gum veins. Put into a zigzag, that colour mix is what you notice first.
Choosing the right room
Strong colour variation combined with a herringbone pattern makes a bold floor. In a large living area or a long hallway it gives the floor real character. In a small bedroom or a room already full of pattern (tiles, rugs, feature wallpaper) it can feel crowded. Plain walls and simple furniture help it sit well. If you like the spotted gum look but want less movement, compare Native Spotted Gum as a plank.
Layout and waste
The 650 × 127 mm blocks click together with a Unilin joint and float, with a 2 mm acoustic underlay attached, so nothing is glued down. The pattern is set out from a centreline and cut at every wall, so allow more waste than the usual 10% for plank; we calculate it at the measure. With this much colour variation we also mix blocks from several packs as we go so light and dark ones do not bunch together.

9 mm total, 7 mm SPC core, 0.5 mm wear layer, embossed surface, micro bevel. EN 685 domestic heavy and commercial light, P3 slip. 18 blocks per pack cover 1.486 m², 17.5 kg a pack. The board is highly water resistant and can go in bathrooms and laundries, but not showers. It cannot be sanded, so we recommend keeping a few spare blocks.

Frequently asked questions
How many packs of NSW Spotted Gum Herringbone for a 20 m² living room?
Each pack covers 1.486 m². At the usual 10% you would need 22 m², and 22 ÷ 1.486 = 14.8, which is 15 packs. Herringbone needs a larger allowance than that, so we calculate the final number at the measure.
Why does every block look different?
The design copies spotted gum, which varies a lot in colour. The blocks are mixed from several packs during installation so the colours spread evenly across the floor.
Can it go in a kitchen?
Yes. The board is highly water resistant and suits kitchens, bathrooms and laundries. Please wipe up spills and leaks rather than leaving water to sit on the joins.
What warranty comes with NSW Spotted Gum Herringbone Hybrid?
25 years limited for homes and 10 years limited for light commercial use, from the manufacturer. It covers manufacturing defects and the finish wearing through under normal use, as long as the floor is installed and cared for to the instructions. The exact term is confirmed on your quote. Our installation work and your Australian Consumer Law rights are separate from it.
