Smoked Spotted Gum is the darkest plank in our 7 mm hybrid range. It is a deep chocolate brown with a slightly bronze, smoky cast and visible gum figuring. Some boards run almost espresso while others are a lighter walnut brown.

1524 × 228 mm planks, 7 mm thick: 5 mm SPC core, 0.5 mm wear layer and 2 mm attached acoustic underlay. Embossed surface, micro bevel, Unilin click, floating installation. EN 685 domestic heavy and commercial light, slip rating P3 (AS 4586). Six boards per pack (2.085 m², 19.5 kg).
Where it suits
A dark floor anchors a large room. It works well in open-plan living areas with white or light walls, lots of natural light and pale furniture that stands out against it. It also suits a formal lounge or study with leather, brass and deep green. In a small, dim room it can feel heavy, and it will make that room look smaller.
What to expect from a dark floor
Dark floors look their best when clean and show the most when they are not. Dust, light pet hair, footprints and dried water spots stand out, and scratches that expose a lighter line are more visible than on a mid brown. The mixed board colours soften this a little. Felt pads under chairs and mats at the doors help. Hybrid cannot be sanded, so we recommend keeping a few spare boards in case one needs replacing.
Installation
It floats on attached underlay. Hybrid is not approved for underfloor heating; if you have it or plan to install it, our engineered European oak is the floor approved for it. Frequently asked questions
Does a dark hybrid floor show scratches more?
Yes, fine scratches and dust are easier to see on a dark floor than a mid brown. Felt pads, door mats and regular vacuuming make the biggest difference.
Is Smoked Spotted Gum good for a small room?
It can make a small or dim room feel smaller. It is best in rooms with good natural light and lighter walls.
How many packs for a 48 m² open-plan area?
48 m² plus 10% is 52.8 m². At 2.085 m² per pack, 52.8 ÷ 2.085 = 25.3, so you would order 26 packs.
What warranty comes with Smoked Spotted Gum Hybrid?
25 years limited for homes and 10 years limited for light commercial use, from the manufacturer. It covers manufacturing defects and the finish wearing through under normal use, as long as the floor is installed and cared for to the instructions. The exact term is confirmed on your quote. Our installation work and your Australian Consumer Law rights are separate from it.
